1. Update – Mise à jour

As you well remember in the unexpected adventure of our last blog post, the Letenye border crossing, between Hungary and Croatia, was under construction so we had to ride west for some 45 km. This detour made us ride through the eastern part of Slovenia.

Alors que la Slovénie ne faisait pas partie de nos plans initiaux, notre imprévu relaté lors du dernier blog (la douane de Letenye fermé) nous forcera à faire un détour dans ce petit pays.

2. Slovenia – La Slovénie

Slovenia, officially the Republic of Slovenia, is a sovereign state located in southern Central Europe at a crossroads of important European cultural and trade routes. It is bordered by Italy to the west, Austria to the north, Hungary to the northeast, Croatia to the southeast, and the Adriatic Sea to the southwest. It covers 20,273 square kilometers and has a population of 2.07 million. One of the successor states of the former Yugoslavia, Slovenia is a parliamentary republic and a member of the European Union. The capital and largest city is Ljubljana. (wikipedia, 2019)

La Slovénie, en forme longue la république de Slovénie, est un pays d’Europe centrale et membre de l’Union européenne. Elle est bordée par la mer Adriatique, l’Italie, l’Autriche, la Hongrie et la Croatie.

Au XX^e siècle, elle fait partie de la Yougoslavie avant d’obtenir son indépendance le 25 juin 1991.(wikipédia, 2019)

3. Along the road… – Sur la route…

Our ride in Slovenia is of short duration. We spend no more than 2h including lunch time and a 15km ride in order to finally make it to Croatia, as first planned!
